Enjoy this cottage’s breathtaking view of the Mississippi River’s main channel while nestled privately among the treetops of Hawks View Bluff from either of two decks.

Come discover the splendor of hand-hewn timber beams, which define its interior spaces. These estate-grown, storm-felled oak and elm timbers draw the eye at every turn.

The sitting areas have cozy couches and chairs surrounding two fireplace stoves, facing expansive windows looking across the winding backwaters perhaps you will spy a paddlewheel river boat making its way along the expanse of Mississippi with the Minnesota Bluffs rising off in the distance. Features & Practicalities

The fully equipped kitchenette comes with range, oven and fridge/freezer. Coffee, tea and breakfast fixings are provided for anyone’s impromptu over night stay. Access to the dry sauna is located in the pump house close by. You will find a pullout futon bed on the first floor as well as games, books, and Wi-Fi internet access.

From your queen-size bed, enjoy more gorgeous hand-shaped ceiling beams overhead while watching the moon and stars through double skylights. The master bath features a parkstone ceramic spa bath, large walk-in shower with waterfall shower head, and is stocked with towels, robes, hair dryer, and toiletries.

Find parking on the lower ledge of the bluff, sauna access and vineyard hiking trail.

Additional Details

This is our lowest cottage with its own parking space. There are no steps to the front door. This is a 2-story cottage with the bedroom upstairs and the kitchen/living area on the main level.

About the Marsh Hawk

The longest lived marsh hawk was known to have lived 16 years. Generally, due to predation, the marsh hawk lives about 8 years.

It is not uncommon for these birds to harass their known competitors the short-eared owl for food. They can often be seen chasing and stealing from the owl when it drops its prey.

  • Pets: Sorry, no pets allowed.
  • No Smoking/Excessive Wear and Tear Policy: Please enjoy smoking in the outside areas only. Smoking inside the cottages or lodges, or excessive wear and tear on the premises, may result in additional charges to your credit card. No fireworks or explosives of any kind are permitted on-site.
  • Children: Hawks View Cottages and Lodges may not be best suited for children. The grounds are very steep, heavily wooded, and wild. If you visit with children, please supervise them at all times.

  • Motorcycles: For safety reasons, we cannot accommodate motorcycles at our cottages, and parking cycles off-site may not be an acceptable alternative. There is street parking available at our suits for motorcycles.

  • Trailers: We do not allow trailers to be parked at any of our cottages. There is street parking available at our suits for trailers.

Booking & Cancellations

  • Payment Schedule:

    • 50% of the total amount is due at the time of reservation.
    • The remaining amount is to be paid on arrival.
  • Cancellation Policy:

    • Reservations may be canceled at any time with 100% of prepayments refunded.
  • Security Deposit:

    • A pre-authorization of $100 is held 1 day before arrival and voided 3 days after departure.
